ABOUT US
The Wardrobe Archive is an interactive online platform designed for anyone interested in becoming more conscious of their visual identity and, by extension, their self-construction. This awareness is fostered through browsing and contributing to a variety of archives, learning new methods of cataloging one's wardrobe, and building a sense of community.
The goal of The Wardrobe Archive is to democratise the understanding of visual identity and bring agency to the wearer. For decades, an individual’s visual identity has been written about, influenced, and manipulated for commercial gain—by trend forecasters, fashion brands, magazines, and gatekeepers. While countless researchers have explored this topic, their insights have largely remained inaccessible to the public. It is time to return autonomy to the wearers, and we do this through the simple yet powerful act of archiving.
This platform is a work in progress, evolving over time. It will be community-driven and research-informed. We are always open to collaboration and suggestions, so please feel free to reach out to us at the email address below.
